My very close family friend Erik is on the cover of La Presse today. The countdown to the Olympics has started again and with a season like Erik has been having we are all very confident.
Go Big Erik!

better than marilyn.

This picture beats Marilyn's any day.

le project WOMEN.

Hypebeast had a little blurb about this project today and it interested me so I looked further into it. Artist JR, behind project 28 Millimeters is spreading smiles across the world; literally. He has gone into Kenya, Sudan, Sierra-Leone and Liberia; areas where women suffer extreme violence due to the armed conflicts and ethnic wars in Africa. They are known to be the source of the worse crimes committed toward women in the world.
JR has gone into these villages, heard the women's stories, and has taken their picture. He will expose these pictures, displaying them first in their own village and then in western countries like Brussels, Paris and London.
My favorite quote in the video below is when he says 'when you hear the story you're like, whoa, maybe the person is dying inside. But then when you ask her to do faces, you see life.'
Here are some pictures from Kenya.

past in the present.

I'm listening to Tori Amos right now. Reminds me of my sister.
fyi. Tori's birth name is Myra Ellen Amos, now why would she change such a beautiful name?

Thank you for the lovely night ladies! I had a blast.

these.

this is how my morning started.

Walking home this morning. I got mega splashed, got muddy salt water in my hair, on my face, on my Tims, and as you can see on my jacket. I considered writing a missed connection.

F@#K YOU SILVER CAR!

I have already cleaned the bottom half. It was bad.

more precious than a picasso.

I had a painting commissioned this Christmas and got it in the mail last night.

Dear Ben,
Thank you for the painting.
I miss you.
Love,
Aunti Mimi.

Every child is an artist.
The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up.

remember the days?

Friday night a bunch of friends got together to drink, a lot. Back in the days this would have been called a house party. Thanks for the good times friends. Glad we came out alive with only a few bumps, sore throats, and numbers.

thank you.

Last summer Crooks & Castles and Mosley Tribes put out a pair of collaboration sunglasses, I have been dying for a pair since then. Because Mosley Tribes was distributing them it has been difficult to get my hands on a pair. The other day I, again, mentioned that I wanted a pair and low and behold a belated Christmas present landed on my desk this morning. Thank you Matt.

Heart to Heart

I could have not asked for more from 2008; I am a lucky lady to have developed and maintained relationships with so many wonderful, interesting, influential people in the last year. The people you surround yourself with define the person you are. Thank you to everyone who has been a part of my life in 2008. I am stronger and happier because of you.

Welcome Welcome!

Today was a good day.
Woke up without even snoozing.
Went to work, got what needed to be done done.
Had a very exciting top secret all day email convo with Hana.
Had a wonderful lunch at Burger King with Charles. (Its not the food it's the company)
Chatted with a long lost friend on fbook.
Finally got 13 people to agree on a place to eat tomorrow night. phew.
and the most important event of today is yet to come!

Kenza is home! My long, not lost, lady soldier has arrived.
Welcome home boob. You have been incredibly missed.

Dear Carmen,

Yes I noticed you sitting right across from me today at lunch. No I didn't notice you noticing me. I thought you were staring at the TV above my head; apparently not. Thank you for your phone number, it is very complementing. Unfortunately, I am not interested in middle aged Italian men.
Happy New Year.

Merry Xmas!

Merry Christmas everyone!
What a perfect Christmas eve day! I am just about to leave the city for Mont Tremblant to spend the next few days with my fam and extended fam. The thing I am most excited for is definitely the time I get to spend with my nephew, Ben. (He is even cuter than the Rudolph I made (above)). My family is filled with Christmas tradition, but this year Ben is an addition so it will be exciting to have a nubie Christmas participant. The legend of Santa Clause is back for the next ten-ish years. Fun.

See most of you all soon and Merry Xmas again.

ps. This will be the last blog post for a few... cause my family house is so deep in the woods they only get dial up! Ha! (at least I get cell service now.)
